The Film: WWII Underwater Heritage Sites

The underwater heritage trail in Saipan is one of the most varied and well preserved assemblages of WWII remains in the Pacific. Featuring both American and Japanese remains, it includes tanks, ships, aircraft, and landing craft. This trail is easily accessible by snorkelers and divers.

In 2013 Ships of Discovery worked with the National Park Service Submerged Resources Center, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Advanced Imaging Laboratory, Windward Media to produce a 17 minute interpretive film. Narrated in English and subtitled in Japanese, the film is shown at the American Memorial Park on Saipan and War In the Pacific National Park on Guam. Funding was provided by the American Battlefield Protection Program.
